Fitting and Alterations

Students from Fitting and Alterations strive to develop an eye for how clothing should fit an individual. They learn how to use their personal measurement to create a basic pattern, or sloper, from which they can draft shirts, dresses, jackets, and pants in a variety of creative and stylish ways.

Special Topics: Bridal

In this senior level class students learn how to construct a wedding dress or formal gown from the ground up (it's just like Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, with a lot more time and planning). They learn techniques for sewing on delicate fabrics, adding stability and structure to the garment, and sculpting/molding lace over a dress form. Buried under layers of frills, fluff, lace, tulle, chiffon, satin, thread and more these ladies still know how to laugh under the demands of this course.
